During a reversible chemical reaction, molecular collisions cause bonds to break and form as reactants are turned into products. Every collision and every change can occur in either direction. In a sense, the reaction is never complete. It just reaches equilibrium, where the rate of the forwards reaction equals the rate of the reverse reaction. There is still movement within the stillness.
