Ferrofluid Signet Ring
Ferrofluid Signet Ring
A ferrofluid is a black liquid that can take on many forms, often possessing distinctive, pronounced, rippling peaks and valleys. This shape is largely due to magnetic fields applied to the liquid, but gravitational energy and surface tension also play a role. Ferrofluid was first created by a team of NASA engineers in 1963, when they were experimenting with ways to supply fuel to an engine in a zero-gravity environment. Although this particular application fell out of favor due to the emergence of more efficient methods, ferrofluids have since been used across other industries, including in audio engineering. Many modern loudspeakers contain this substance, which helps to disperse heat and produce a longer lasting, high quality sound.
Ferrofluid Signet is inspired by this beautiful shape shifting substance.
